Soulgrass Rebellion is about a family of friends making music, making people boogie, and staying positive. Their sound is roots...reggae...soul- where the two-step meets the one-drop. The Asheville, NC based band is fronted by soulful singer/songwriter Oso Rey, who moved to Asheville in 2006 from southern California where he shared the stage with giants like Sublime, Leftover Salmon, and No Doubt. The all-star group includes heavy-hitters who have played with several of the Southeast's top bands- Silas Durocher (Laura Reed and Deep Pocket, David Earl and the Plowshares, Silas Durocher and Everybody Knows) on electric guitar, Jesse Gentry (Turbidity) on bass, and Chris Pyle (Virgin Recording artists- Royal Trux, Woody Woody, Scrappy Hamilton) on drum set.

In the past year, the band has performed with Galactic, the Victor Wooten Band, Larry Keel, and Jeff Coffin’s Mutet. With all the great exposure, and a busy tour schedule throughout the Southeast, West Coast, and Carribean, Soulgrass Rebellion will continue reaching new fans, and stirring up love for the release of their debut full-length album currently being recorded at Echo Mountain Studios.  Their debut full-length album is set for release summer 2011…
